Description
The Supply Chain Manager is responsible for planning, implementing, and monitoring the company's overall supply chain strategy to improve productivity, efficiency, and reduce costs. This role involves managing and optimizing all phases of the supply chain process, including procurement, production, logistics, inventory management, and distribution. The Supply Chain Manager will work closely with other departments to ensure that the supply chain supports the company’s business operations and goals.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Supply Chain Strategy:
Develop and implement supply chain strategies that are aligned with business objectives.
Analyze and optimize supply chain processes to improve efficiency and reduce costs.
Monitor industry trends and identify opportunities for innovation and improvement.
Vendor Management:
Establish and maintain strong relationships with key suppliers and vendors.
Negotiate contracts and agreements to ensure cost-effective procurement and favorable terms.
Evaluate and select suppliers based on quality, reliability, and performance.
Inventory Management:
Oversee inventory levels to ensure that the right amount of product is available when needed.
Implement inventory control processes to minimize waste, reduce excess stock, and avoid shortages.
Monitor and manage inventory turnover, lead times, and reorder points.
Logistics and Distribution:
Coordinate and manage the logistics of product transportation and distribution.
Work with logistics providers to optimize shipping routes, costs, and delivery times.
Ensure that products are delivered to customers on time and in good condition.
Production Planning:
Collaborate with production teams to align supply chain activities with manufacturing schedules.
Develop and implement production plans that meet customer demand while minimizing costs.
Monitor production performance and adjust supply chain plans as needed.
Risk Management:
Identify potential risks in the supply chain and develop strategies to mitigate them.
Implement contingency plans to address disruptions in supply, logistics, or production.
Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations and industry standards.
Team Leadership:
Lead and mentor the supply chain team, providing guidance and support to achieve departmental goals.
Foster a collaborative and results-driven work environment.
Conduct performance evaluations and provide training opportunities to enhance team capabilities.
Continuous Improvement:
Continuously evaluate and improve supply chain processes and systems.
Implement lean manufacturing and supply chain best practices to enhance efficiency.
Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure the effectiveness of supply chain activities.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, or a related field; MBA or relevant certification (e.g., APICS, CSCMP) preferred.
Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in supply chain management, logistics, or a related field.
Strong knowledge of supply chain processes, logistics, and inventory management.
Proficiency in supply chain management software and Microsoft Office Suite.
Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
Strong negotiation and communication skills.
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities.
Able to communicate effectively and lead others through change and new strategic initiatives.
Able to build effective teams, coach and develop others.
